Sanity, a symphonic metal band from Germany, has embarked on an ambitious musical journey with their latest EP "Revelation," inspired by the biblical Book of Revelation. The genesis of "Throne" and the "Revelation" EP dates back to 2001, a period marked by intense creativity for the band. The members' encounters with evangelical Christians in different countries profoundly influenced their musical direction. "Their bible-based message about a living God that offers forgiveness and a place in heaven for free was so radically different from what religion all over the place teaches you".
Sanity's journey in the heavy metal culture of Berlin since the early 90s has been instrumental in shaping their sound. The addition of Bernd Schweda, a death metal guitar legend, to the lineup brought a new dimension to their music. The band successfully merged black metal guitar skills with technical death metal riffings, creating a unique symbiosis. The symphonic elements, influenced by classical composers like Beethoven and Bach, add richness and depth to their compositions. The orchestration process for "Throne" was a meticulous endeavor. Working with Andreas Hilbert from Soundforge Studio, the band achieved a rich, layered sound. They used the Vienna Symphonic Library to add orchestral elements, carefully ensuring that each instrument had room to breathe. The result is a majestic blend of mourning oboes, passionate celli, and heroic choirs, complementing the heavy guitar and drum sections.

SANITY: un’odissea sinfonica attraverso l’apocalisse
I Sanity, band symphonic metal tedesca, hanno intrapreso un ambizioso viaggio musicale con il loro ultimo EP “Revelation“, ispirato al libro biblico dell’Apocalisse. Il brano di apertura dell’EP, “Throne“, è una testimonianza dell’evoluzione creativa della band e della sua capacità di fondere diversi generi musicali in una narrazione coesa e potente.
La genesi di “Throne” e dell’EP “Revelation” risale al 2001, un periodo segnato da un’intensa creatività per la band. Gli incontri dei membri con cristiani evangelici in diversi Paesi hanno influenzato profondamente la loro direzione musicale. “Il loro messaggio basato sulla Bibbia, che parla di un Dio vivente che offre gratuitamente il perdono e un posto in paradiso, era così radicalmente diverso da quello che le religioni di tutto il mondo ti insegnano“.
Il viaggio dei Sanity nella cultura heavy metal berlinese a partire dai primi anni ’90 è stato determinante nel plasmare il loro sound. L’aggiunta di Bernd Schweda, una leggenda della chitarra death metal, alla formazione ha portato una nuova dimensione alla loro musica. Il gruppo è riuscito a fondere le abilità chitarristiche del black metal con i riff tecnici del death metal, creando una simbiosi unica. Gli elementi sinfonici, influenzati da compositori classici come Beethoven e Bach, aggiungono ricchezza e profondità alle loro composizioni.
